Seneglese
fans have had plenty to cheer about
Zambia found
out that it is goals that count as Senegal and Egypt cruised past
them and Tunisia into the quarter-finals.
In first half
against Egypt and the whole match with Senegal, the brightness of
their passing and approachwork meant they constantly threatened
to get the reward their efforts deserved, but it never came. Instead
they constantly failed as they tried to walk the ball into the net.
It was very
different to the Senegalese who showed athleticism as well as technique
against Egypt and Zambia. They kept going until the end and were
rewarded with late single goal victories against the run of play.
Tunisia must
have wished they could achieve the same levels because the World
Cup qalifiers had a dismal time. Coach Henri Michel said it was
difficult to know what Tunisian players had in their minds.
"We did
not have the means to win this tournament," he said.
One team that
think they are equipped to go a long way are Egypt, especially with
the wily Hossam Hassan back fron injury. Yasser Radwan thinks a
semi-final spot is a good bet, especially since they have beaten
the Cameroon Lions in their last five meetings.
