Catherine waiting for Radcliffe

The marathon world can't wait for Kenya's Catherine Ndereba, the World Record holder, to take on it's latest star Paula Radcliffe for the first time.

Ndereba set her mark of 2h18m47s last year in Chicago when she broke the old mark of Japan's Naoko Takashimi that had stood for just seven days.

Radcliffe came within 9 seconds of that mark in her debut run in London, a truly remarkable feat given that she ran much of the race on her own.

That was the case when Ndereba broke the record. As the defending women's champion, she broke away in the 11th mile to such devastating effect that four miles later she was ahead by nearly a minute.

"It is my prayer and my dream," said Ndereba, a two-time Boston Marathon winner (2000 and 2001) after breaking the record.

Ndebera's pedigree as a road runner was established on the roads of America in 1996 and 1998 when she was number one in the world rankings.
Between those feats the former teleohonist in a kenyan prison took the time out to give birth to her daughter Jane.

Chicago are going to pull out all the stops for a 13th October head to head with Radcliffe
